Henry

After a run with medication that made me suicidal (Lordy, did I just say that 'out-loud'), Henry was brought in my life.

For some, psychiatric service dogs are an amazing option.  For me, with different medication options & therapy, he has been my saving grace.

Unlike service dogs that assist handlers with physical injury, psychiatric service animals often have hidden tasks.  When you see a person with a service dog that looks 'perfectly fine' remember not all disabilities are visible.  If you are a business owner, fellow shopper or just out in public, when told that a service dog is for PTSD or other psychiatric diagnosis, don't pry.  For most, just being in public is difficult, and most likely embarrassing that we 'need' help to be there.  Asking what 'specific tasks' our dogs perform or 'how did you get PTSD' is not appropriate conversation.  If you are curious about PTSD service dogs tasks, or other psychiatric tasks, hit 'Google' and 'YouTube'.... let the handler off the hook to explain.

Because I'm horrid with words to describe my Alba (My Rock), here's some pictures:

  1. He's gorgeous. Reminds me of our dog, Marley, a black cockapoo. So attentive, so alert. Your best friend.
